Workplace Impairment: The Impact of Nursing Fatigue and Burnout
This course aims to increase the knowledge of healthcare providers who care for and work with people facing the challenges of fatigue and burnout in the workplace. Nurses are also presented with information on the ethical aspects that fatigue and burnout has on not only patients, but the healthcare organization and the personal lives. Options are discussed, including scheduling options, education, and support necessary for the affected healthcare provider.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1. Define fatigue and burnout
2. Identify causes of nursing fatigue and burnout
3. Explain how workplace performance and patient care are impacted
4. Discuss strategies for management and prevention of workplace impairment
OUTCOME:At the conclusion of this presentation, the learner will understand the background and identify risk factors of fatigue and burnout as well as discuss strategies to
manage and prevent workplace impairment.
COMPLETION CRITERIA:

Evaluations will be completed online in the CCI classroom and are due at the conclusion of the activity.
