The Professional Educator Practicum Certificate of Mastery (PEP-COM)
is a one-day virtual course that will provide current and new professional
educators with guidance and tools needed to be effective in this key
role.
Course Objectives
At the completion of the course, you will be able
to:
- Identify resources to assist staff with transforming best
practices into patient care
- Apply standards of professionalism and leadership to role of
nursing professional development
- Design educational activities
- Utilize the nursing process to develop on-going professional
development programs
Earn your Professional Educator Practicum Certificate of Mastery by
participating in the live virtual course, and actively engaging in the
lectures, breakout sessions, and completing all required post live course
assignments. Here is a brief description of the components covered during the
course.
Course Components
In addition to post course work, the following
components will be covered during the live course
- EBP & Research: This session will
review concepts such as conducting a literature review and how to effectively
promote evidence-based practice to enhance optimal patient outcomes.
- Professionalism & Leadership: This
session will review the role of the professional perioperative nurse educator
in nursing professional development. This role involves developing and
supporting a healthy work environment, demonstration of effective communication
skills, participation in the strategic plan of the organization, and
appropriate delegation.
- Instructional design: This session will
focus on theories and principles related to both teaching and learning.
- Staff development: This session will
review topics such as coordinating orientation and onboarding, competency
management, and continuing professional development.
Upon successful completion of the
Certificate of Mastery program, learners receive:
- Electronic Certificate of Mastery
- Digital Badges for each of the components & the
Certificate of Mastery
- 150 points towards your CCI credentials recertification eligibility requirements when recertifying by the Professional Activity Points method.
Earning the Professional Educator Practicum
Certificate of Mastery will fine-tune current skills and provide
new tips and tricks to incorporate into current professional development
programs and orientations for the entire perioperative team.
Instructions for accessing the
course will be provided by email after you complete the checkout process.
This program is a Certificate of Mastery, not a
certification. Course will be conducted from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Mountain Time. Learners must complete all coursework within 6 months to earn
the Certificate of Mastery.
